They'er doing great.. starting to become brats... you know the stage where they know the rules but are comfortable enough to see if you'll make them follow them

. Napoleon has decided that he doesn't always want to go to bed when I say it's time... so everyone else has been going in then I have to make him go by the gate a second time. It's fun and I beleive he thinks so too.

We went to a large swap this weekend so Daughter was out to critter sit. Good thing she enjoys them as with "Mom" gone they thought they didn't have to mind,

They generaly allow Jerry closer to them then me as he talks to them but I do the catching and organizing of pens but they aren't afraid of either of us anymore and thats great. Pics soon as Josephine is now visably larger then Napoleon.

Thanks for the update!! Look forward to seeing new pics!!

I know what you mean about the cold mornings. It was below 30F here last night. After having to break 1.25" ice layer from kiddie pools this morning, I will be draining them at evening feeding time and substituting buckets for drinking overnight. I have a feeling it is going to be an early winter here and have been shopping winter watering options all weekend.

Hello guys, Its been sometime that I have been on this site. I am so glad to see everyone has basically gotten a new home. I only wish I could have been able to get some myself. Financially unable I am still glad to hear of all the new homes. I do have a question or two. 1. Where do you get the geese DNA'd. I have three that I don't know the sex of. 2. I have a friend who is lookig for shipping boxes for ducklings. We have searched like crazy for some boxes but just can't find any.

Thanks Heidi

Shipping boxes are sold by horizon, google horizon shipping boxes. Dont forget the ducklings need to be from a NPIP flock to ship legally. Also be aware that VA, HI and other states have additional requirements to ship into them without risk of the birds being put in quarantine.

The lab I used this summer stopped doing DNA, I am currently reading over the list of animals tested at two other labs and waiting for email confirmations on if they will accept geese.

Hi All!

I've soooo got to take a pic of my beautiful geese! Its totally amazing to see a flock of 14 with 5 curly sebbies, 4 buff and 2 grey toulouse, and the 3 tall elegant white africans. They are much quieter now, and still try to lead the pack around. They have influenced the entire flock to trust the pool, so every morning they are having a deep water swim which seems to be the "singing hour" as well. They've just all got so much to say in the mornings.

We're getting to 32* and such in the early a.m.s, but no ice to break yet. I've noticed the geese are all eating a bit more as the weather has cooled. Bough 600 lbs of grain the other day. Oats, Wheat, BOSS, scratch grain mix, and a bit of layena, but honestly, I'm feeding ducks, geese, turkeys and chickens all about the same mix now. I give the geese more wheat, oats, and Boss, and a bit less scratch grain. In the morning, when I put out food for the roaming geese, I'm including more corn. It seems that the Toulouse are really the only ones visiting the feeder in the morning. At night, no extra corn, just whats in the scratch allready.

Very happy the new trio are working out well at your place, Marty!! I'm hoping we will warm up again after tonight's expected below freezing overnight temps. I'm not ready for winter yet!

Thanks Celtic,
I just found avian biotec and it sounds like they do. but I'm not sure. When you find one please let me know.

Heidi

Will do, thats who I used before, but got notice they no longer accept goose samples as of this fall. Always fun keeping up with this, cause you know not like you use it weekly.
