Speaking of updated pics... here are a few new ones of my special needs group, which includes Spirit & Ember, who I hatched on May 12th, Blind Girl, Shuffle (rotated hips), Hitch (severely rotated left hip) and Gimpy (bumblefoot infection in joint). If you look closely in the 2nd pic, you can see how Hitch and Spirit's left legs look similar, although Spirit has a deformed foot not rotated hip. Unfortunately for Spirit, the left leg is the good leg. I am exploring my options for surgically breaking and resetting Spirit's club foot bones once all the rescue geese are off property.

Iain, no mere disability can disguise their beauty and elegance.

Looking forward to getting my 6 pack. Haven't been on here much, been in the process of moving. Almost done, finishing the chicken coop/house, then can bring all of the animals over. Will be a little farm in the next few days, I can't believe it is finally ALMOST over. So it was very good timing on the sending of the geese, they can be settling in with the rest of us.

Will be curious to see what the good Dr has to say about working on her and what her recovery and results will be like. Love the changes in the special needs group from when they first arrived to now.

Life is so quiet without the Africans around here. LoL Got to have the entire curly crew out back with no threat of feathers being pulled. They floated on our back pasture now turned pond for hours. Cant wait for the sod delivery and winter seed we ordered to come. Will be fun to rework the yards and set up the breeding pens with fences and houses.

After looking at Iians Toulouse geese I am wondering if my are too skinny. Although mine as far as I know they are not the duwlaps.

They look like productions. How old are they? The one in the third picture looks to be in a molt. (elongated wing feathers). Productions never get as large as the dewlaps. below is a 2012 gander. Productions shouldnt be huge, but should be dense when hands on. They should have just as good of feathering too.

This boy looks large until he is near the Dewlaps, but he has great lobes and body size

Thank you for the very nice compliments! The geese in my special needs pen are my absolute favorites. I find it inspirational watching them overcome their disabilities.

Celtic, I bet you are enjoying the peacefulness at your place with the africans gone. Congrats again!

Krafty, only 2 more days until you have your babies!! I hope you love them!

I am beyond ecstatic to have the enforcers off property. I was very tired of having to always keep them separate from the others because I didnt want feathers ripped out. Now I can run all of the geese together and no issues. Even the toulouse who will nip at the sebastopols have mellowed out more with the Africans gone. Plus with all of the space the curlies can just flat out run faster lol.
