Spirit is an excellent communicator! I just wish I could get the surgery done NOW instead of having to stress over him slipping and splaying in this snow. 12 more days until his operation will not get here soon enough!!

Wow! He's gonna be amazing afterword. A Spirit like that desearves to run, jump into pools, and hurry to mama.

You have just not had a good week. I hope this weather pattern moves off and you have bright, sunny weather this weekend. It's hard to be sad and depressed when you are out in the sunshine, looking at all of your beautiful animals. Keep your chin up!

BTW, I'm home for a five day weekend! Woo Hoo!

Today, I'm trying to make my old parlor a good place for guests. Its hard to wrestle an old place bag from the 1970s charm my grandma lavished all over it.

Brown shag carpet and wood paneling anyone? Oh, and she lowered the ceiling to 10" and covered it with popcorn.

I think i'll go feed the geese now instead.

Donna, yep... this has been a REALLY bad week, but I have high hopes for a good weekend.

Just helped Spirit out of pool... he only needed a little encouragement. But, the snow is slick and he can only move if really motivated. So, I put a food bowl down to where he laid down, which he appreciated. As soon as the snow stops, I will take a shovel to the pen.

All of my birds and animals have dorky names, except the white african geese. Dude, Lady, Buffy, Mable, Muppit, and Brownie are the toulouse. Diamond, crystal, Samantha, Lucy, and Agnes are the sebbies. So much for dignity. LOL You don't even want to know what we've named ducks, turkeys and chickens. The kids take an active roll in this, which is why the ducks, except Lucky, are all candy bars. The Turkeys are named after holiday feasts. Thanksgivings day in court is coming up right soon.

Yes, and its a good read too! I like the names too. Congrats on the new geese. My adoptees are "Dude" a grey male dewlap toulouse, and "Shadrach, Meshack, and Abednigo" are the white african trio. Its from 3 fellows in The Bible who were cast into the firely furnace, but were saved by the grace of God. It seemed like a good name for geese that were almost made into people food.....

It is a great book, you are right. I was an English major and to me reading is like breathing, but it seems like nowadays most people would rather watch a film than read a book. But, you have to admit, the film was extraordinary! I love your goose names, too, especially the biblical ones. How appropriate!! If I ever get any girls, I will name them Scout and Jem. I know that Jem was a boy in the story, but I think the name will work just fine for a goose.

I agree. My trio is a boy and two girls, but the names were men. I don't care, and its not like they come when I call them. Nope, I have to squat down and call "goose goose goose" the way I've called them since they hatched (or arrived in some cases) and everyone comes running to mama. The adoptees and shipped geese stay back a bit more, but my dewlaps I hatched are still very pet-like. They come and chat in my face, and I talk to them. My DH just watches and laughes and shakes his head. My kids call me goose mama.

Oh, and the geese all come running when I start my bug (old volkswagen) or pull in the driveway. I always have to stop and wait for them.
