Here is my daily Spirit update.

Spirit continues to amaze us all with her ability to adapt and deal with everything life has thrown at her. She has figured out how to stand with good balance and has even begun taking a few steps without falling. She is eating/drinking well and playing with toys in her pen. She is still a bit clingy with me and prefers laying in my lap to take naps, so I know she is still hurting. But, according to my vet, today should be a turning point for pain to start subsiding.

YEA!!! Go Spirit.............. Keep up the good work momma. Spirit loves you and feels better in your lap to cuddle. That will also help her along the healing road.

Thanks, all! Spirit is learning how to walk now, although it requires using a new set of muscles. She is so level-headed, you can almost see her thinking about how to adapt to new leg. She has also taken to chewing on the rod/pins, which freaks me out to watch, but I figure if it hurt her, she'd react in some way. Ember is still unhappy with her situation and I may try swapping her out with Tank, my favorite of Spirit's hatchmates, who is acting gimpy. We are getting hit hard by a nasty winter storm and Ember should be grateful she is inside with fresh water bucket, hay/mazuri and toys. The ones outside can barely trudge through the 5+" of snow and it is still white-out conditions.

Marty, I'll have to get Iain to take pics when he is not at work. Although there are a few of my geese that are ok with being pet, Spirit is the only one who wants to be in my lap.

I'm so happy for you and Spirit that the wise little thing is taking advantage of this wonderful opportunity. Shes a lucky goose. Your a lucky mama to have such a special relationship with a goose. I'm jealous that you have a lap goose though. LOL

Yay Spirit!

I don't think I'd invest this much time and money into a goose that I didn't have this kind of relationship with...I doubt most geese could mentally/emotionally handle it. Here she is earlier today. At the end is her way of getting me to pick her up. Her balance has already improved since this video.
