Marty our current girls JUMP straight up and over, what they cant jump over they climb over. They dont however go over our field fencing around the perimeter though. Breeder pens for the geese however they will break into for the feed, even if it means belly crawling under a fence. As long as I have field fencing or chain link up they stay put. I fenced off a palm I didnt want bothered and they plowed through the chicken wire even though it was double wrapped and chest hi.

Marty, congrats on the goats!! Hubby was looking at goats when I made the executive decision to get another horse instead.

Paulla, gorgeous pics!! Josephine is looking all grown up... and developing nicely!!

Oh.... and someone please turn off the snow making machine!! We have gotten over a foot, it is still coming, and I have to go outside to feed in a little bit.

It really rained last night. All the puddles and pools are full, and the geese were happy to go play in it this morning.

They were a bit nervous about the barn last night, and were anxious to get out today. The did come over and chat at me, but once I opened the door (which as to be opened from inside only) they pushed by me and fled. LOL They were very secure and cozy in the straw though.

Sorry about all the snow Iain.

I'm going to go try to get some close ups of the geese later this morning, when the rain clears a bit. I'm also going to try to get indicidual pics of ancona ducks. I've been reading up on them, and have something of an understanding of what to look for, but I'll probobly go ask the ancona thread to weigh in their toughts on the males especially.

Sorry Ian about the snow, I'm sure that will be coming for us shortly. Not looking forward to though as my back keeps going out. Ohwell life goes on but I would like to be able to be up for more than 30 at a time. The drizzle here has finnally stopped but still cold as heck. The FR has been great with the baby chickens and the ducks/geese. I can't believe the difference compaired to Meat maker or chick feed. I plain on feeding that exclusively for now on. Some of my geese are getting very rotund right now with the lobs filling out and 2 forming dewlaps. Major difference between the Troulouse and the African/Troulouse. My dad is trying to figure out how to put in drain plugs in the large waters we used for the sheep when we had them. I can't tip them over anymore and to afraid to in the winter time with my back and falling. As much as he don't like any poultry he keeps asking me when will I be getting any gosslings and hatching out anymore ducklings. How funny!!!!!!!! He check on the fencing everyday to make sure they are all safe. The dogs were barking alot last night so he went to check on them and the geese where running and flapping thier wings like crazzyyyy but calmed down when he told them it was okay. I about died lmao whe he told it me this morning. Glad all is well this morning and lets all be safe.

Janet so sorry for so much snow

Yes, its getting colder by the minutes here. Down to 25* tonight. Glad I've got that toasty barn.

I've been trying to get some Java chickens since that dog break in a couple of weeks ago took out all my laying hens. Got someone selling their flock on BYC, so getting 5 girls and 3 roos from her. I also have some chicks, so I'll have a flock of like 10. Her kid has shown them in 4H, but is moving to bantems now.

Geese are free in the yard today. Nibbling the last of the green grass today, and the may as well, its time is almost up.

Keep warm everyone, that first big chill is the coldest of all.

I bet Minn is a lot more bitter in the winter than where I live. The snow finally stopped and the sun is peeking out from behind scattered clouds. In all, I think we got 14-15" here. I hope this system fizzled out a bit before hitting the midwest!

Thats far too much snow. How is Spirit doing with her recovery? How are you Iain and the horses feeling after the wreck?

Marty, I totally forgot to take the camera outside today. Twisted my ankle this morning, and screwed with my entire day. No school tomorrow though so should get camera time tomorrow while the men folk do chores. lol
