Donna the goose has been setting on eggs for about 2 weeks and we noticed she was getting weak and having trouble standing and running when not on nest. She is not eating so we brought her in and started tube feeding her with her food and water and greens or grapes blended. She takes the blended food well but still is weak. She feels heavier so it must be helping but wonder why she is not eating. I think she did not take care of herself while setting on the nest and now is sick. She is having green loose stools.
At first she did not even honk but now is honking again. She is eating grass and drinking water. I don't want to lose her now. My granddaughter will be heartbroken. We put her eggs in the incubator.

Poor goose -- sounds like you rescued her just in time.

I had one yearling broody goose who was like that -- we had to drag her off the nest every day or two, or she wouldn't eat or drink. After a few weeks of us doing this, she eventually figured out that she needed some time to herself. She never ended up hatching anything, but hopefully next year she'll be nicer to herself.

If she is eating grass and drinking water, I think she's well on her way to being back to herself . . . she may need to eat grass to replace some of the vitamins and what not that she lost during sitting. Just keep offering her whatever dry food you feed your geese and eventually she'll nibble on it I bet.
