Isn't it amazing how the chickens will hang around during all the sawing and hammering or drilling? They hate loud noises but if you are building them a coop they are right under your feet "snoopervising"!

I actually had a few sitting on some boards for me as I sawed them. They were ever so helpful!

Today we started to build the coupla, the work platform was leveled, then we built the four walls and temporarily screwed them together

Using the same rafter pattern as on the coop I screwed two rafters together.

I found center of the front wall and screwed my level to it.

Keeping the peak of the rafters level we lowered the rafters down until it was even with the 2X4 blocking

Then we marked and cut in the birds mouth, this will provide a pattern for the rest of the rafters. There is a million ways to skin a cat, this is how I am doing it.

Thats a mighty nice coop over the top right corner of the first picture there. The blue one with the white railing running around I guess would be the run.

I haven't seen you posting how you built that one yet. Can you catch us up when you have a chance please.

BTW: Cupola is looking awesome.....If your ever down south, and need a job, look me up!

I thought a cupola sits on the top of the roofline? The coop itself is already looking really tall - you may need a crane to lift it up there! Unless you plan to take it apart and reassemble it on the roofline

Auwwk you got me all figured out! First thing I was going to do was make a funny about renting a crane, and in all acctuality it will be disassembled and reconstructed on top. Total highth of coop should be about 75 feet tall. I cant believe the things I get myself into.
