Gorgeous runner ducks. Silver? Lavender?Blue Dusky? Curious about colour & genetics.

Wow! I can't wait to see what he looks like fully molted.
Stormy is pretty much done molting now. I guess he's pastel? Regardless he is beautiful!! I showed him to the lady I got the eggs off of and she said he looks alot like his dad (the one who apparently changes from Chocolate to Blue).

The duck behind him came from the same hatch. Would she be considered Mallard type? What kind of genes does she carry? Say I bred her with a blue drake what would the outcome look like?

I'm also in love with their brother Silver to the right. Unfortunately I'm going to have to make the hard decision to re-home some of these boys. Current flock of 10 has 6 drakes. 🙈😫 I'm thinking about breeding the pastel and/or the silver with my silver hens before I re-home though. What would the outcome be? (Pic of her for reference).

I have 2 gorgeous Grey Mallard Runner drakes and only one hen... so I had to get them more girlfriends. First time with Runners. I'm looking forward to color mixes and the Ancona crosses.

Here is the mallard hen in front of the geese, and one of the boys between. She looks very close but darker mallard than your girl (or the pic. )

Stormy is very handsome. I think you are right with pastel but I am no expert. If so, he has two blue alleles just like the silvers. But, he does not have black which makes them silver. If your silver hen breeds with him, it will depend if she has one or two black alleles. If only one, you should get 1/2 pastel ducklings and 1/2 silver ducklings. If she has two, they will all be silver.
Your brown female might be a chocolate mallard. What color are her speculums (the colored patches on her wings)? If they are bright blue then she is not chocolate mallard just Mallard.

Amazing! Thanks for that info. Will definitely be breeding Stormy and my silver hen. So would Stormy carry the chocolate gene?

Toasty (chocolate Mallard) had brown speculum. See pic.

Very nice! I have 2 Ancona coloured runners. In addition to my runners I have a pair of Welsh Harlequins who are absolutely gorgeous but I find the colour variations with the runners so fascinating!!
