Gosling died from stress?

Chi-square

In the Brooder

Yesterday I received 6 chicks and 2 goslings in the mail. All were robust, active, eating, and drinking upon arrival and when I last checked on them before bed. This morning I found one gosling between the wall of the brooder and the brooder heater, barely alive. I did everything I could do to revive it, but sadly, it died while I was holding it. Could the death be stress? Or the fact that it wasnt all the way under the heater? I would like to make sure this doesnt happen again. I did pull the heater away from the walls, just in case.

i ordered 3 more goslings to keep the one I have company. I didnt want 3 more, but unfortunately they wouldn't send me any less. I cant believe how saddened I am over the loss of this little guy and how bad I feel that I couldnt keep him/her alive. So much guilt. For some reason I bonded with the goslings (and they with me) more than the chicks.

Thank you for any insight you can provide.
