gosling neck problem question

Feed store or Tractor Supply will have the Poultry Nutri Drench and B Complex the B Complex will be in the cattle section and the dose is 1ML daily. The bottle of PND will have dose on side of the bottle. You can also buy the BComplex for humans at Walmart in the vitamin section be sure to get liquid. Call Pet Smart they may carry.

ms. lydia - do you believe adults would need supplements like this if i constantly fed them oats? or just those with health problems or small chicks? that supplement is a bit expensive... of course they get some grass, not just oats, anytime they want

Geese are mainly grazers so if they have grass they will get their nutrients. from the grass the oats are also beneficial as supplemental feed especially in winter. Whole corn is another one they can have over winter it helps to keep them warm in frigid temps. So oats and corn to supplement grass. Only goslings and ducklings need supplemental niacin . Most of the time if we see angel wing in wild water fowl it's because people feed them bread which is not healthy for them.

They may but what happen if it can't fly? when the others take off they will have to leave it.

I didn't say the oats you are feeding caused this I said if your still feeding oats mix the vitamins into them and place on the ground so they can eat it and hopefully the gosling will get some. By the way Poly vi sol tastes awful so I'd get something like B Complex or Poultry Nurti Drench and use it. My birds readily take the poultry Nutri drench.

wow, they seem to hate this nutri drench! I used 1 drop and rolled oats around in it so it got swabbed across a whole handful. 1 drop seems to be the dosage for a 3 pound gosling from the bottle. it strongly disliked the taste and tried to clean it's mouth. What would be the way to do this for a wild goose, as I cannot leave it in water... would I get a spray bottle and fill with water and add a few drops, then mist each handful of oats a bit or something?

You could try. Why are you wanting to do this with wild geese? Only way I have used ND is in water buckets or straight into their bill very slowly.

er I would only do this for the goslings, as I saw someone on here post that a diet of oats gave one of their goslings angel wing... these would get grass and oats of course but still. It was really just an experiment to see where to buy it and how to do it

I really don't think oats would cause angel wing unless it was maybe a sole diet of oats. But geese being grazers and wild geese eating grass along with the oats probably wouldn't cause it.
Now going to the park everyday with stale white bread and feeding that to the goslings would probably cause it. So I have read.
It's too high of protein and carbs. And it can be genetic too.
