I’ve had several goslings hatch this summer. They are a Toulouse/Chinese cross. Just pets. As you will see in the video the father had angel wing that i was not able to totally fix. Two of the babies also had angel wing but I think I’ve fixed it in them. Problem is, the one us started dropping the other wing (not the one that had angel wing). I’m not sure what is going on so I attached a video.

The other gosling has always walked kind of odd. It stays at the back and will always lay down when they stop walking. Her stride looks a little odd. I’m not sure what is wrong or if I’m just imagining it. She does lay down a lot more than the others.

They are free remake with their parents. They have access to chicken feed and fresh water all the time but usually eat grass and whatever else they eat in the pastures. When they hatched they were on chick starter for a month or so before i let them out with the parents to free range.

Any suggestions on what to do or how to fix either issue would be greatly appreciated. I’ve never seen this in geese before but i have limited experience with geese.

If using a niacin supplement go with either nutritional yeast or b complex liquid the liquid actually works faster than powder when they are already having problems. You can get the liquid b complex in Walmart human vitamin section 3ml daily each or b complex liquid for cattle at TSC in cattle dept 1 ml daily it’s more concentrated.after 1 week go to nutritiona yeast 1 tab per cup of feed.

Ok. Thank you. I will get the liquid at Wal mart. Should I give it to all of them or just the one with the wing issue?

What is that wing problem called?

What about the one that is walking oddly. Would the niacin help it as well? Have you seen either of these conditions before? Just wondering what they are each called.

We feed An all natural pelleted layer feed manufactured by a local feed mill to the entire flock except the babies. I have a bunch of Guinea keets and the goslings and keets eat the chick starter. It is Nutrena chick starter.

I’m assuming i would just squirt the b complex liquid down their throats??

Thanks again for the help! Did the videos come through?

Read more about niacin (vitamin B3) here: http://metzerfarms.blogspot.com/2018/01/niacin-what-is-it-and-why-do-my.html

You should be able to get it pure either as drops or tablets at the feed store, a health store, or a pharmacy. I ordered mine online, as it wasn't a stock item in stores near me.

Goslings and ducklings need niacin, chickens synthesize it themselves.

It's hard to overdose, so don't worry about that.

The first few times I had goslings I didn't know about niacin, so I thought they just naturally went through a stage where they had trouble standing up/walking and couldn't hold their wings because they grow so fast. After I started supplementing niacin I've never seen that again.

As your geese are pets, I assume they're used to getting treats? An easy way to make sure they get the niacin would be putting it on or in the treats.
