I've just spent the last half hour reading other threads, articles, etc about goose leg injuries and I don't quite know what to do still.
Our six week old buff gosling got herself stuck and twisted a leg around. My girlfriend found her and got her loose. She's not wanting to walk now, although she can. When I came out to look, she got up and hobbled away to a shady spot, clearly favoring her right leg.
Once in the shade she sat down and has been there since.
How concerned do we need to be and what can we do to help her heal? From the weight she put on it, it's not broken, but it's clearly unpleasant.

Update: twice now she's gotten up, moved a few steps and sat back down where the grass and clover are better. I'm hoping this means no permanent damage and it's just really achey. Anyone?

My goose fractured her leg somehow too. Since she was only a year old, I left it and it healed fine. Just wish I had taken her to the vet because two months later, after walking better, it worsened again. I was thinking she refracted, and swelling and heat rose in the leg within days. I still waited to see if it would get better. No luck... only worse till she stopped walking much. X-rays revealed osteomyelitis had set into the bone with a poor prognosis of ridding it. I put her down yesterday. If you don't think that the skin was broken at all...then i think she'll heal if she is young enough (never sure). If any chance she might have had an abrasion to the skin, I highly recommend getting her in for antibiotics as infection won't set in for two months post injury. Nip it in the bud.

I'm happy to report that she has 100% recovered. She was walking better within a couple of days and now runs around flapping her wings like the others. They chase away the big 30lb Tom turkey but are super intimidated by the young 3-4 lb turkeys.
