Goslings of 2014 Hatch-a-long

dancerchick im trying to open the incubator since my bator loses temp and humidity rapidly! But i did put an egg to my ear of one of my broodys and i heard cheeping and they are due either tomorrow or thursday

When a momma goose gets up from her nest to eat/drink, the eggs lose temp and humidity rapidly. And geese don't have a "lockdown" period. Incubators are no different.

The important thing, is that it returns to the proper temp/humidity within about an hour after you close it :)

The beak is actually all pink but being a grubby little gosling who doesn't like to wash it face it's caked in breakfast!

What a cutie! I know you are hoping for a girl, but she looks a lot like my embden mix splash boys i hatched last year. They turned into really pretty boys at least....
Sending girly vibes your way!

I was ALMOST bad today. Went to the feed store and low and behold in the middle of the store was a huge horse trough full of goslings. I swear two looked like saddlebacks the rest were white chinese and brown chinese i could pick out chinese babies blindfolded lol i had to make myself walk away to keep from getting the lil saddleback looking gossies

WOW I set 19 last night and thought that was alot

19 was what i started out with in the bator now im down to 12.
Its a table full of eggs thats for sure, averaging 4 girls laying a day thats only 8 of them laying though. Two quit because of broodiness and one has a nest by herself that im not touching. Still out of 13 girl two have not laid at all yet.

Are you trying to make me and my egg jealous?

I only have 5 girls total, so I'll not get as many.
