Goslings of 2014 Hatch-a-long

I got a big surprise today.... my 1st broody scovy came off her nest today with 3 babies. Between the geese, the cats, and the cold weather we are having, hubby and I quickly scooped momma and her babies up and brought them inside. Now they are warm and dry and my pigeon has friends to hang out with. :D
love the yellow babies! Iain will they turn pure white?!

Hahaha brazil at this age shes just male and female! But at the age moose is its hard to tell male and female for any breed

Except the auto-sexings, of course!

Id have all types if i could. I still might. My next ones that i want are turkeys and peacocks. Someday i hope to raise emus as well. If i could find emu eggs now id get them.

I'm working on obtaining peacock eggs right now, actually. They'll be coming from Missouri, though.

How well do they work against Raccoons and Possums? That's where I have a problem, right now

I would imagine that emus don't work against coons and possums. The reason is both of those can climb trees to escape. Maybe get a couple really big, really aggressive feral tomcats, an acquittance of mine took one of those off my hands when i trapped it for going for my chickens. the coons had killed her momma cat and kittens and when she heard i was thinking of euthanizing this cat (it was trying to attack me through the bars of the trap with a towel on it) she took it. She now reports finding dead coon babies and believes it to be the work of the cat. of coarse the cat may go for your chickens as well, if you free range. Your best bet would be traps and a trained flock guardian/coon hunting dog/and a gun for the ones the trap and dogs miss.

I think moose looks like a girl too. My first pair the female was much bigger for the first month. By two months the gander was bigger. I Gander was always much more chatty.

p.s. I see why you have your suspicions about the Africans.

Check out these pics of the Africans. Am I crazy or is 1 a gander? Sorry for the spam of pics, but I really need to know if Cream is a gander. If he is I need to call the feed store so they can make good and get me another African female gosling. I believe I would get to keep Cream anyway due to bio security, right? The feed store actually says that the hatchery is the one that will send another goslings and I can't imagine a hatchery wanting the gosling back, especially a male.

This is Cream, my suspected gander
