Goslings of 2014 Hatch-a-long

Hi Andrea. The males aren´t really much bigger than the females, but in this pic (not mine, I got it off google, as it´s a good pic), the male is just walking tall as they do. The pink bill thing makes me think it could be a cottonpatch female, then...here´s a pic, again, not mine. (this one has the pied markings, others are grey, solid)

Do a bit of research on Cottonpatches, see what you think....
I will as I have never heard of them. Thanks! I know it doesnt matter what he turns out to be or what sex. it is just fun guessing!

Hello you're doing a good job helping her!
This is no pure breed but a cross breed of some sort and look's to be a female

There is no breed of pure breed gosling that has a orange beak when that young and the feather's brown, The colour of the gosling when week old also tell's us it is a mixed breed

Thanks! I still dont feel like I am doing as much as I could when I see him struggle to walk. =( A cross breed!!!!!! That would make perfect sense! I didnt even think of that!! I do feel like he will end up being a female but since we started calling him a boy from the beginning I think he will just be a boy in our eyes due to the habit =) Since he is disabled , i am not going to allow him to mate as I think it could make his issues worse so his sex doesnt really matter. (his problems can be genetic as well, so no babies with bad genetics) It is entirely possible that the farmer did know what she was talking about when she told me he was a gander pilgrim and maybe his nutritional deficiencies and genetic defects ? made him a bit scrambled in coloring?? I guess. I think him being a crossbreed makes perfect sense, I guess only time will tell for sure.

I will keep everyone updated on his growth and health! and if anyone is in Florida that happens to read this and knows of an avian specialist that is highly recommended for surgeries, let me know =)

Serv, grey around the wings is a mark of pilgrim males. A large number of pilgrim ganders have that.

He does look like a cotton patch!! Here is a pic of the adult pilgrims from the farm where I got him. If he ends up being a pilgrim...here are his parents.

Andrea, I can´t remember who, but someone on the pilgrim thread said their goslings often have pinkish bills that go orange later.... have a look at that too.
