Goslings of 2014 Hatch-a-long

........ my gosling died after drying up that had that condition well atleast i know what it was :) do you know how its caused?!

Never knew why he was like that. Nothing went wrong during incubation. No electric problems like i has with the batch after that, i misted the eggs, turned them everyday. Never dropped the egg or bumped it. The egg could have gotten too cold before collecting, but that egg was collected abour this time last year. I dont really know for sure, so i just put it off as a "freak accident"

Ok my big female embden layed her first egg today! :D im going to wait till she lays 6 eggs and then i will put them in the incubator! The eggs are AfricanXembden and the female is big and so is the african gander so i want to see how big the the baby goslings will be and what they will look like! And how big they will turn out and see if they somehow will look like steinbachers and try and create cross breeds to make a breed that no one evers seen :/

Anyway this is her egg laid this morning ...

All i know is that egg that had that hairy lip gosling was only 6 days old when put in the incubator

Thats about what age mine was. Maybe more maybe less. I collected 6 eggs, only owned one laying goose, and put them in the incubator(when i would get them)there was 2 weeks in between the first one hatching and the rest hatching because i bought the goose the day before i got the first egg and from stress of moving she stopped for a while. During candling all was developing well. 4 hatched by them selves then that one and the last, never externally pipped. I still have the first gosling that hatched and the second, the third was shot last fall by a stupid neighbor and the fourth gosling was attack by the other 3 and killed at 2 wks old.

Geese have a breeding/laying season. Starting about february or march and ending about May. Occasionally one may lay in the fall but its not common. Geese will go broody when they feel they have enough eggs for a clutch. If you take the eggs after they lay them they will lay longer and until they are finished for the season.
If your egg hatches you will need to get it another gosling for a buddy. Geese are social birds and are much happier with other geese.
Eggs take anywhere from 28-34 days to hatch. Most hatch at 30 days but it can range between 28-34 days.
Turn it atleast 3 times a day. I mist mine every other day, but that is because where i live the humidity is high and i do not want too much fluid gain on the gosling. Too much can cause stress on its heart when hatching. Someone else may be able to give you more info on misting though.
Everyone has different methods for hatching so you should have a lot of advice really soon.
thank you so what your saying is if a goose has enough eggs it will sit and brood. And would chickens be enough company or do they need a goose

Can anybody tell me what colour the goslings will turn out if a Brown African gander mated with a Embden goose?!
I just want all brown goslings but im not sure if they will turn out all brown :/

Serv, with my Africans, brown gander on white goose gave me goslings that were brown with a touch of white marking.
