Goslings of 2014 Hatch-a-long

OMG, My wish came true! I'm right there with you, @Miss HennyPenny
! ALL THREE have now pipped! They did it while I was at work, so now I'm definitely going to be biting my nails (not really, I hate biting my nails) and staring at the incubator for HOURS on end!

Wow, three detached air cells, but they still developed and all three still pipped correctly! I'M SO HAPPY AND EXCITED NOW!

Come on, Miracle, Hope, and Wonder, I'm waiting to meet you!!!

Yay! What an eggciting (sorry) night!! :highfive:

I figured the moving about didn't help, but who knew he would be so.....protective? At least he is now clear on the concept that I am, in fact, the bigger goose. It took three kicks to the chest.
I picked her up, and he went NUTS so I made big with one arm....nothing. So, I used my rain booted foot to bump his chest. He came back again. So, I booted him harder. He went back about 3 feet and came back. So, the third boot to the chest sent him about 8-10 feet back. That did it, and i stooped to grab two eggs then moved her and the eggs to the homeless shelter. He was confused, so he went into the coop and surprisingly he was a cinch to pick up. Neither protests when I pick them up. I expected him to be a bit more ornery, but I didn't actually HAVE to grab his neck first. (I gently darted my hand around his neck quickly, but didn't actually grab and he was fine.)

With her, I figured she would bite me. My mama duck does. So, I gingerly used one hand to distract, the other to touch her neck. She didn't move. So I pet, nothing. I "ringed" my hand around her neck as a precaution and slipped my other hand under her breast.....nothing. So, I scooped her up. Other than adjusting herself she was placid as usual.
This picking up was all part of the eviction process. I think both sides learned something that day.

I will keep the apartment going for them, and will lock them up in there at night. They are currently exploring the extended yard along with their neighbors. I have my back yard, for the dogs, then I have the back back for the birds. The geese have a section in the back o the back back for them. Right now they are in the entire yard, and my dogs are inside. I trying like heck to upload some shots I took but Kies, Galaxy s3 and Mac are currently arguing to the point that I had to walk away, lest one of those electronics dies a violent death. Trying again now.

Oh I heard all three of mine this morning when I woke up. Not only are they inside of the incubator, but they are inside of a closet full of clothes (which tends to keep noise from escaping) and the door has been shut on the closet! And that was before they made external pips, too!
They really wanted you to hear them.

Ok, so you CAN hear them, then.
I recently had some muscovy eggs external pipped, and i´d invited some friends from the city to come to ours, and I got an egg and let them put it to their ears, and they were so amazed. I know they can make a lot of noise before they actually hatch, just didn´t know if you could hear it inside the incubator...that´s inside a bundle of clothes, that are inside a closet! Goodness!

A few years ago one of my geese had a little gosling, just 2 days old, and for some reason it had fallen into the pond during the night. My bedroom is at the back of the house, the pond is some distance form the front of the house, and I was sound asleep. But that little gosling woke me up with its shouting, and off I went in the dead of a cold (not for you guys, but it was about freezing) night, got the little chap and brought it indoors, dried it off, put it under a lamp and it went back out with mum the next day. What amazing little voices they have to carry all that way! It saved its life.
