I'm just impatient with these things. I know every goose is going to be different anyway regardless of sex and having them a month apart I can't really compare them properly yet.
But Moose has been as bold as brass from day one, Lucy has been skittish, jumps at quick hand movements and wriggles when picked up/put down (likes to snuggle under my jumper though). She's also a quick learner. Not solid proof I know but it's all I have for now.

With my auto-sexing (I can tell you this, because I knew if they were boys or girls, although I didn´t particularly take any notice a the time) my males were easier to get hold of, first to the feed pot, far bolder. I´d pick them all up, (they were with their mum) but the last ones to come near were always the little females. The others, mixed-breeds, I can´t say, as I didn´t have any idea at the time whether they were boys or girls, other than just a hunch.....the hunch was pretty well right, too. So I´m for Lucy being a girl...2 points coming to me, serv, i´m sure!

Adorable pictures of all the new goslings! Congrats on successful hatching!!

Stefanfarms, congrats on developing eggs from my girls! I can't wait to see pictures of them when they hatch!! I'll probably be as excited as you for the white Africans!

As luck would have it, I was able to catch my African broody this afternoon off her nest, so I did a quick candle. I didn't see anything promising from the three eggs I gave her, but discovered she laid quite a few more eggs of her own and much to my surprise (she is mated to a fairly old gander), she has one egg spider on day 5-ish and a possible day 4-ish looking egg.

Since I only have one other trio of eggs under another broody, I'm not too optimistic about getting white goslings from eggs set under my girls. So, I'm getting super itchy to fire up my bator, especially since one of my white girls is pretty sick with reproductive issues and I'm not sure she will make it.

Hope she pulls out of it J

I candled my eggs. Its way early but i wanted to see whats going on. 5 days and 19 eggs, only 8 has anything noticeable. None were Stormys or Ethels. Out of the 8, 5 looked like blood rings. Like i said its still early so i will give them until day 10 because this early in not real sure. Hoping that some are just slow. Otherwise im

I vent sexed my only gosling yesterday, the one that I think 3 people on here said was female, and no one said was male. Well, it's a baby gander, for sure! So if any of you are picking out pink or blue diapers based on what these jokers have to say, you may want to think again.

Here is a my little gander(!) with his new buddies.

Unfortunately, the one goose egg I was hoping would hatch did not. I opened it and it was dead in shell. The membrane had dried out significantly and shrink wrapped to him, which is odd because there was plenty of humidity and he never even pipped internally.

Some or all of the khakis will likely be gone today, and the turkeys (I think) are spoken for. I've not even had to advertise my turkeys as they take one look at Jive Turkey, my 60-lb bronze breasted tom, and the poults are gone like that. I don't even tell people that I have poults. The welsh harlequins go to their new home on Friday. Next hatch is scheduled for this Friday, so I'm hoping for more friends for him by then. No more goose eggs to hatch for a few weeks, though.

One of my toulouse girls was sitting on one of the two remaining goose nests almost all day yesterday. When I got up this morning, an Embden was sitting on it. I think I'm about to give up on trying to figure out whose eggs are whose!

Serv, good guess that she was a female, because she is! Now I'm hoping for a gander out of the other four eggs. Any guess on what color she is? The breeder had white, lavender, solid blue, blue saddleback, gray, and buff.
