How´s that little one now? Bit messy, eh?

Gave him a little bit of a wash of this morning as was my fear he wasn't fluffed up but his fur was shiny and course... Gave him a quick washdown with warm water, dried him as best I could and now he is under a nice warm heat lamp fluffing up... He hasn't gotten up and walked around as of yet, and I don't know that Goslings are much different but I have had chicks that I have had to sometimes help and it takes them 24-48 hours to rest and be up and running... The next several hours will be the test... I'll let him rest for a bit and then give him a bit of sugar water..

And holy cow, yet it was very messy....lol.. this newbie wasn't prepared for that hahaha

We´ve fenced off so many plants here.  My hubby grows passion fruits, and I had to fence them off last week as the flowers and fruits hang down right at eye-level to the geese...well, that´s too much!  Nibble, nibble...oops!  Another flower down!  I also have to put fencing around the bark of saplings as they´ll nibble it all off.  
Well done, then.  Hope all goes well for the remaining ones. 

Looks like my garden is going to turn into a fence garden, lol. And there is no way to conceal the fences either, so everyone will see them.

This little impatient one was pushing and straining and crying so much that it only took me chipping away at the top of the shell for it to literally explode in my hand.. Once it uncurled and we put it next to the egg we could see why...Its huge (I've only ever hatch chickens so yah, I'm a newbie) It has absorbed all its yolk sack and is just barely attached to that shell by a thin thread... I worried about the blood but it seems to be doing fine so far...

Egg #2 is chirping but hasn't broken any more of the shell, I'm not to worried about it and egg # 3 has internally piped

we have green coated wire fencing here... It blends in better if it's available.

I'll pull them out this afternoon and see how much help they need if they've not done anything by then. This morning will be dedicated to the monthly run to the feed store.

I hope that your babies and up coming hatches do well.
I am learning a lot about hatching just reading all your stories and hope to be prepared next year when I attempt to hatch my goose and some chicken eggs.

He is fluffed up nicely but still pretty weak, I'm going to give him today and see how he does... Please let me know as I have to run to town today and if there is anything I might need that I don't have here I can grab it while I am out..
He is very vocal tho !!!!
His legs and neck seem pretty weak and wobbly...

list of things for you to have on hand include... ACV = Apple Cider Vinegar with Mother (it should be with the vinegar in the grocery store), sugar or molasses, poly-vi-sol without iron.. it's a liquid baby vitamin. Many people use Sav-a-chick to give the babies a boost. Chick feed and grit or sand will be needed to raise them. Grit they will need as soon as they start eating greens or you get them out on grass.

Those are the normal things most of us keep around all the time. I'm sure others will chime in if I forgot anything.

Yay, Molly!!! Glad you joined the thread and can't wait to see pictures of your babies when they hatch!!
