Me either! I went on the thread called "anyone in WV?" to try to meet people but they were too stuckup. Which is weird this state is supposed to be the most polite lol
Lain has nice geese. Now i know there is a place close by if i ever want dewlaps in the future ;)

one more embden has ext. pip and that will end this week's hatch

Turkeys.. my first try with them.

Psue, how cute! Love the one in the lower left corner, still got the shiny look, pre fluff!

Yes, I have them dabble a puddle of water and dirt, so they can get the grit they need. I was hoping to find treats for the. Goslings, but I never got grapes tonight.

Does anyone know if strawberry stems are ok for ducks and geese? I saw the post about strawberries, but what about the part we leave behind?

On a separate note, I put duckling in her box, (Indy) and I forgot how LOUD ducklings can be! She got to be. Held constantly after hatching, I feel bad leaving her alone in the box.

I have Togo check Bonnie to see if any of the internal pips turned into externals....I am SOOO excited!
Question, how many should I let her raise outside, and how old should they be before they can mingle with the flock again without worrying about Clyde tearing up my chickens and ducks?
I plan to keep one girl, and hopefully sell the others either as goslings or as meat. Will the babies be mean if I leave them with mama?

Here is my latest gosling hatched out several days ago. It had internally piped and I waited the whole day for it to externally pip. The next day nothing and the goslings was past due. So I opened the air cell for the gosling. Put it back and left it alone for the day. Still nothing. So I had to slowly start peeling shell off a little at a time. I peeled it all from the top of the egg and left the area around the yolk sack with shell on it. Put the gosling back for the day and nothing. This gosling was super weak. So I started peeling the membrane off that I left to keep it from bleeding. Then left it alone for another day. So finally I got the shell down to just covering the stomach area. Finally the gosling pulled out of that part. But the yolk sack was exposed. So I sprayed it with iodine took a fresh clean wash cloth and put super hot water on it and waited until cooler and wrapped the gosling up in it and put back into the incubator. Did this for that day and kept going in and baby was out of it so reheated it and wrapped up the gosling again until the next morning. Finally the gosling started to come around. The sack had finally went in and the gosling was showing more life.
So just let it stay in there to get on it's feet better.

Here are pictures taken 15 minutes ago.
I sure hope this little one makes it....!!!

Fayette County! Near the new River gorge bridge :)
Lots of memories from that area. I've participated in the fair there in Summerville many times, white watered on the New & Camden, fished under the bridge (amazing bridge), boated in the lake and rode a steam engine along the New. Old stomping grounds for me in the summers past.

And this also brings back memories as I used to date a girl by the name of Vivian M. from Sissonville. She worked in Charleston at a small diner, but that was years and years ago, maybe 30-40 years ago!
