Goslings of 2014 Hatch-a-long

400

Came with a shock this morning when my buffchinese was walking around with 6 babies around with her i knew they were due near but not so early :)

And so far there have been 64 goslings born at my place (including the ones i incubated and there is still 2 brooding and 2 others that are preparing to brood

6 goslings has found new homes today! 4 whites chinese and 2 pieds will be leaving soon to become their own flock someday.
Im holding on to my lavender and my spotted goslings for dear life lol
Maggie is due to hatch in 4 days(Thursday) but she tends to be a microwave and usually is done by day 28.
The Donk has internally pipped lol she has ALL the signs now! i have been on watch since yesterday, it will for sure be in the next couple days, if Not tonight!!

Congrats on finding good homes for your goslings. And can't wait for pics of the donk's hatch! Good luck

I started fermenting my chicken feed almost a week ago, and started feeding it to my chickens a few days ago. Well half the geese and the ducks also come running when they see the pizza pan I am using as a feeding dish in my hands. I had to move fermenting operations to a large cooler chest just to keep everyone fed. It is a very good thing I fermented non-medicated feeds like the flock raiser with some oat and wheat seeds thrown in. Since I started feeding the fermented feed, my entire flock seems to eat a bit less. I haven't been doing it long enough to see any health benefits, but everyone who explained how to do it says that the chickens get bigger and healthier while eating less because of probiotics. We shall see.

Any tips and suggestions you can give me for fermenting feed for a large mixed flock? What feed do you use for fermenting?

Do you sprout fodder for your geese? I am also trying that as Texas heat is slowing the growth of my grass. I hope sprouting oat and wheat fodder will help keep the geese happy during the summer months when everything wilts. Any ideas for that?
