Goslings of 2014 Hatch-a-long

The Irish summer was perfect this year both wet and dry and most importantly it was warm! I am scared of what the winter will be :E (every winter last past years were record breaking ! Last winter was windyest on record and wettest on record) Year before was warrest as well as the winter before that!
And the winter 5 years ago was coldest ever!-19 (which is not cold compared to yer winters but it was for Ireland!

I detect a bit of accent coming through

In happier news... my new Toulouse goose seems to want to integrate with my African flock and specifically likes our most imprinted gander, so she spends lots of time nearby when I hang out in the pasture since my gander is always right under my feet. My gander is slowly warming up to her, too. In the meantime, our pair of juvenile hinnies have fully latched onto her, so she is no longer alone.

Here's my new girl, named Indi, with her duck buddies. The gander she is sweet on is right next to me.

Pretty!

Ive decided to just rip the band-aid off and start looking for a new Tufted Roman gander. If i wait too long the new one might not bond with Maggie in time for breeding season. With Maggie being a witch and all i need to get one asap.
If it wasnt for Ethel having that larger than normal tuft i could just pair her with a new one. With her attitude of "i love any gander" and that tuft, i like using her as my wild card female in my cross experiments.
We will see how fast i can find a new gander around here. Maybe i can get lucky and the guy i got these from will have more.

That´s it, let the air get to the wound. Nothing like planning geese to help it along. Hope you get sorted very soon.

And I think there´s supposed to be a cold spell in England about now. And it´s August... supposed to be summer! Weather´s gone loopy! I remember some of the photos you posted of the trees down.

I don't ever want a winter again like last year! it was unbelievable ! Hoping. for a freezing calm winter again:) Had no. calm winter since i can remember :/
Let's not talk about winter till it actually comes haha now where were we geese!

That´s what I´m doing. I´m popping extre eggs of other geese I want to breed under the ones i don´t want to breed. Keeps ém all happy!

I think you must have had our share of rain over there! Here we´ve had the dryest year for over 50 years. Some wells have dried up, and folks are having to sell their animals. I went past a lake today that´s drying up. The people usually have about a dozen geese around it, but I didn´t see any today. I´m sure it must be stagnant.
I love Ebay´s name!
What will you do for the other gander that lost his mate?

Thanks re: EBay's name. It seems to fit him, even though I mixed him up at birth and ironically he is not from eggs I got off of Ebay. His hatchmate, "No. 1", is from Ebay eggs. And No. 1 hatched last in the group and Ebay hatched first.

Not sure what to do about the gander who lost his mate, but I now have two extra girls in my free range flock. Hopefully, once breeding season starts up, he will hook up with one of them.
