Congrats on everyone's hatches! I may not post much anymore but I do enjoy reading this thread and seeing all of the pictures. Breeding season is winding down at our place and we managed to keep our numbers of new babies pretty low. Our 1st gosling is now almost a month old and is spoiled rotten by his african family. We also now have two more goslings that hatched out during this past week. They are either African or African/Toulouse cross. Very hard to tell at this point, especially since momma is extremely protective and won't let me get a good look at them up close. We still have one dewlap goose that started sitting about a week ago on a large clutch of dewlap eggs and one of my buff dewlaps is trying to build up a 2nd clutch. I would like to add another buff dewlap to my group and otherwise have buyers for all dewlap babies that may hatch, so my fingers are crossed for those girls to have good hatches.
Other than that, we are done with geese hatching. Now the challenge is to keep our ducks from hatching babies. As hard as I try to pull all duck eggs from nests, we have two muscovies sitting on nests that are deep beneath one of our buildings, so I cannot access them. I fully expect them to march off their nests with babies in the near future. Luckily, I also have buyers for their babies too.
Hopefully, we will be ready to separate our top breeders for 2016 and look forward to hatching white Africans and more buff dewlaps next year.
