Got a free roo- can some one tell me what he is?

Cool! Thanks for all the replies everyone. Partridge rock was the only breed that I could think of that looked like him, but I'm never sure if there is some variety or other of chicken that I'm not familiar with. I put him in with my two black sexlink hens, and so far they're getting along just fine. I love the partridge color, so I'm quite pleased with him.

I disagree with Partridge Rock. It looks nothing like one. The pattern is not the same as a Partridge rooster. It has more a more "spangled" appearance on the chest rather than a solid color or penciling.

I was figuring that that would be due to him being a poor quality specimen from a hatchery?

It could be..... and he may be one, but I'm not convinced.

Yah, I figure it's always the case with free chickens that you never really know what they are...I just like to have an idea of what they could be.

Congrats , he should compliment your BSLs well for some good dual purpose mixes .

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I already have a plan hashed out with my mom, where I incubate the chicks, she raises them, my SO and I butcher the boys, and we split the girls.

He looks exactly like my Welsummer roo who is about 9 months old. He has the exact same coloring. He's a handsome roo!
