How normal is it for hens to take a "break" from laying? I haven't found one since the last, so I'm assuming they'll be irregular until they get into the swing of things.

My PBR went ten days from first egg to second. She has now laid six in a row and all perfect.

That's good to hear. It was a bit of a shock to find the first ones (I don't know why, lol, they're birds, eggs come with the territory). I hope the other girls can get with the program!

Found out why I haven't been finding any eggs. They had a hidden nest they were sharing! I found 8 eggs today, one of them from a different hen than before. I left one in their nest spot to encourage them to lay there (now that I know where it is). Now I really have to look harder for other nests before any eggs go bad/develop in the heat.

The new girls started laying just before the bunch of them quit for the season. I'm so pleased that each hen's is different; they're beautiful, and it'll make figuring out parentage easier when I hatch some next spring.

I have one laying now, she started at 5 1/2 weeks. There was a long skinny one with hers the next day but haven't seen any more from that bird for 6 days now, it's good to know she will pick up again soon. I have 5 females and only 1 is laying at the moment. Should be soon I hope. It's going to be hot here another month (Texas) so I really hope they haven't quit for the season before even starting!
