Great news for your first egg! I am always happy when I collect eggs! Try putting a board a 4-5" high in front of the box. That should stop them raking the nesting material out.

X2...a lip on the front will prevent (or at least reduce) the excavation of the nests. New layers, especially, can be very destructive to nests at times.

I have a 2.5-3" lip on my boxes. High enough they can't throw all the nesting out. Some is unavoidable. Yes, they will still go in the nesting boxes. I used golf balls and took them out after a week... Good luck!!

The chickens keep moving the fake eggs. One of the fake eggs keeps getting moved fromnuostsirs coop to lower coop run.

BTW no more eggs for now, only the one.

Will we got our second egg. It was not warm like the last one. Must have been layed earlier morning.

Smaller egg like last one. Do they get bigger?

Well I can say there was a big difference in the fresh egg and the store bought egg. The store bought egg has the normal strong what I call sulfur flavor. The fresh egg has no sulfur taste at all.

You know which one is laying because she’ll be in there scratching around to find a spot to lay. Then she sits there all by herself for a bit and soon you have an egg! I’m new to keeping chickens but I’ve found their behaviors are predictable and easy to read.

So awesome isn't it! My two new ones started laying on Saturday! Not sure which layed which ones yet!
