If it sounded like car stereo bass or booming noise, it would have been a girl. They don't lay like chickens however, or at least not suppose too, you Really Do Need a Male for emus to lay, LOL, Next time someone askes if you need a rooster for your hen to lay, just say, NO that is a emu thing..... and see the look you get.

Now I know! It showed up young, I thought it was a rhea. but then it got the color and size.
We had a hurricane and the fence to the local theme/game park got destroyed. It showed up months later 20 miles away,...and oddly they did not want to come and get it.
He had it for years, maybe ten, and then one day it walked away. Funny how we never thought it was unusual to have a Emu walking around.
Female. now I know.

That is an awesome egg! Wish I could get some EEs that laid an egg that green.
