Yesterday DBF woke me up by saying, "honey, come in here". Of course, I freak out and wonder who died overnight.

On the kitchen counter on a plate is a shell-less egg: just the membrane around an egg. DBF was very concerned about our girls (awww...

). Thanks to my countless hours spent on BYC, I was able to assure him that it was no biggie.

I wanted to cook and feed it back to the chickens but DBF said no way. Oh well.

I'm not worried at all. It was just one of those things that was nice to have read about on BYC and know that it's a "misfire", rather than an underlying problem of some kind.

The weird eggs come in phases for me. In the fall, when lots of girls were molting, I got many shell-less eggs. Recently I haven't had any of those, but I've had lots of itty bitty wind eggs.

I haven't had any double yolkers in many months, but I've had a few bulgy, misshapen ones.

Backyard Chickens should start an on-line museum of weird eggs!

We hace one that lays eggs that don't harden on the narrow end but only once or twice a week. Must be a problem with the internal wiring but all are healthy.
