I would be very worried about a space heater because of blowing dust. I have some six week olds outside now in an unheated 4x4x6 breeding coop. I have it sitting next to my main coop which has electricity. I hung (SECURELY) a heat lamp for them. I ran the cord thru the coop window so I could plug it in. I was gradually reducing the wattage of the bulbs until they move into the big coop. But, with this freezing weather we have been having I put the 250 watt heal bulb back in a couple of nights ago. I do not have any heat on them during the day as they are usually out in the run anyway.
I understand they will be fine if fully feathered out but I just don't want to take any chances with these light Susssex chicks. Plus, some are a little younger than others.
Hope you find a solution. They make us worry, don't they?
