There are lots of knowledgable keepers here to help you with your new chook.
Tip: Antibiotics have a very bitter and sour taste, so, when I have to add them to the chicken's water, I add half a can of frozen apple juice concentrate to one gallon water. You can even find some with berries in the juice, which the chickens also like!

Huh, I didn't think of that. I've just been using tiny amounts of icy sugar to make it palatable so far, thanks for the advice!

Welcome to BYC! I love your username! Great desicions you are making with peggy it sounds like. I agree that it is really terrible that people dumb their sick animals on other people. For now, it sounds like you are doing everything right, so keep on at it.
