Grain Free Chicken Feed?

I'd be worried that the bird died of some disease or something, but I guess if only one dies it couldn't have been a disease cause the other ones would've got it

Most times you'll see something to show disease though not always... If you know how it died I'd say eat if it fresh... Just my opinion of course... I'd also do a little bit of research and see what exactly is communicable between chickens and cats, I know toxoplasmosis is.

I'm not a cat expert, but I'm pretty knowledgeable about dog nutrition (grew up BARF feeding our Newfs) and this just makes ZERO sense to me.

A better question would be: what did chickens eat (100s or 1000s of years ago) before big ag grew government subsidized & GMO crops (such as corn and soy) to make 50 lb bags of animal feed that can be picked up at the pet store?

I have been eating grain-free chickens for a few years years now and I am finally raising some myself (for eggs and meat). It isn't easy. Putting out an endless supply of dry feed mix that won't spoil for months is easy.

Based on my observations, my chickens prefer to eat the following, in order of preference:#1 insects (bugs, grubs, larvae, maggots, any form!. #2 meat/organs (raw or cooked, from any animal, including chicken). #3 Starchy veggies or fruit: winter squash and mangos are a favorite. #4 fresh greens (lettuce, kale, cabbage, grass, weeds, etc) probably about 20% of diet. #5 dry feed (I mix my own: peas, sunflower seeds, alfalfa pellets).
