Grandma again, NOT a happy ending !!!

My niece just delivered a boy 5 weeks early.
He is now a month old and doing wonderful.
At first he was sent to a Children's Hospital and was on a
ventilator for 2 days, but that was just to take the pressure
off his own lungs so they could get stronger.
I think he was in the hospital for 7 - 10 days, and my niece was there the whole time.

When my youngest was born by C-section (full tern), she
had a lot of mucus in her lungs and was hooked up to all kinds of machines to "blow it out". She was in the hospital for an additional week. When she finally came home, you couldn't tell she ever had the first problem.
She will be 6 in November.

Doctors are very good these days, and do everything they possibly can.
A lot of times we worry for no reason!!

I jsut got home at 7:30 pm today is Monday been at the hospital since Thurs. I'm exhausted. This is like a bad dream for my daughter and our family. I took my daughter Thursday morning for an amniocentesis for her Friday deliver and the doctor nicked a fetal artery, the ambilical cord during the procedure. Molli's (the baby) pulse rate dropped from 150 to 80. He had to go through the placenta because she had low amniotic fluid. Molli was fine before the amnio. The doc stopped the amnio rushed us from the building we were in across to the main hospital to the OR and put them on the monitor. Molli's heart rate was 150 on the monitor but they decided to do an emergency c-section because it was fluctuating. My daughter went from amnio to or in 10 minutes baby was crying and delivered at 10:16 Thurs morning. By 10:30 daughter was being sewed up and I met my grandaughter, with a head full of jet black hair, weighing 4.5 lbs, she was absolutely beautiful.

30 minutes later in my daughter (Amanda's) recovery room the docs came in and said Molli needed a transfusion, that she lost a lot of blood from the amnio. She had the transfusion and I went to see her, she was looking at me, perfect and beautiful. \\

Long story short, her liver and kidneys never recovered from the blood loss, the trauma. She died at 5:15 today at 4 days old. What a nightmare.

There are so many theories, from the docs, etc. She had an RH negative blood type, she was small for an 8 month old baby and here liver and kidneys were already weak, there are viruses that could cause this, etc etc etc.

All I know is my daughter is devistated our hearts are broken and Molli boo is in heaven with Jesus.

I'm sad and tired, thanks for checking on me, but she had the one of the best NICU's in the country and the very best care and still didnt' make it.

God only knows......this hurts!!

I am so so so sorry for your loss. I don't know what else to say, but my thought and prayers are with you and yours.

I am so saddened by this news, I know there are no words to help take away the sadness you all are feeling. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

I am heartbroken for you and your daughter. I can't imagine the pain of carrying a child almost to term and losing it. There is a reason but we can't understand. She is God's and I pray He will bring complete healing soon. You are in my prayers.
