The doc didnt change his trach. maybe tomorrow. ayden is awesome.he is doing great.with his history we r waiting for the other shoe to drop. cause everytime he would get better something else went wrong. praying that this is it. thanks for all of the prayers and support. it helps alot.

Ayden is out of icu. they r teaching us how to care for him. he may have to go.to a transitional hospital before he goes home

Ayden is doing great. they are gonna do an echocardiogram just to check his heart. and he will be doing a swallow study to see if he will be able to take a bottle. if he cant swallow he will be sent home with a feed tube. fingers crossed he can take a bottle. DD is really nervous about taking him home. he will have a home health care nurse. but she is still scared. ( will also admit i am scared too. I also have to learn how to take care of him and how to change his trach out.
Does anyone have any experence with this?

update on Ayden they removed the feed tube and he was taking bottles since friday. this morning they had to put the feed tube back in because he keeps throwing up his formula. when the suctioned his feed tube they found blood. so waiting on the doctor to come in and see whats going on there. I went home for the weekend to see my other 2 children and will be heading back to houston after church.

I hope they come back with news that can be easily explained. I hope he continues to make such wonderful progress...even though he's back on the feeding tube, he is still doing great! Keep loving that baby! And keep his mama strong for him...she needs it

I had a trache and a feeding tube in 2009 (severe pneumonia that nearly killed me)...I had the type of feeding tube that goes into your stomach, I'm assuming that's what he has? You'll all do fine with it. My feeding tube was probably 2 feet long, but I think usually with babies that have a port that you plug a tube into...I could be wrong.

I don't know how to change a trache, mine was unable to be removed until I was done with it..well they changed from the biggest size they use (7?) and that one was cuffed to a 4 that was not cuffed, then eventually removed it, but cleaning it isn't a big deal. Suctioning might be trickier if you have to deal with that.
