Granny's gone and done it again

Cooked hoecakes this am on griddle with bacon & eggs. Gonna eat them for lunch with cocktail sauce. 3rd cup of coffee. Dizzy with a headache so i didn t go to church. So dizzy i nearly fell when i went to garden. Mesclun has come up but not spinach. Gd spent the night. Dd said she was crying for me. She said i would cook her cookies. I have spoiled her rotten. Weather said 48* at 8am. Wonder how ice got in chicken s water.

CB and Robert are getting one thing each. thats it . Nothing under the tree because pup thinks everything belongs to him.

Twist, Never heard of ham bone for BB I use bacon..

we have always used a bone and then any scraps of ham you can save plus what is stuck to the bone. I come from generations of "frugal" cooks.

I got my dad an antique gun stock for $12.50. I got my mom a wall flower with a cardinal on it for $12, can't remember how much the bulb was. Got coloring books for my brother and his wife. And that's it. I'll make cookies or bread to bring along. Maybe I'll make a pot of soup. We're just trying to save money and pay down debts.

We got another couple inches of snow over night. We are pushing 2 feet for the month.

Only 14 days before Christmas and even less shopping days

I guess I could get a few squirrels. Freezer is almost empty of venison, so not a lot of wildlife for gumbo. We do a beef/sausage/vegetable soup with a tomato juice base that I call "mom soup" because I've tweaked it from my mom's recipe. It's a camp-wide fav this time of year. Then a made a faux gumbo (no roux) that was extremely edible.
