Pert that is an adorable wee one!!
And with that...Shazam it’s bed time. Tomorrow I get to ride in with hubs (provided he doesn’t get any 5am road calls) grab the truck, help one of his coworkers move some pallets (she’s cool though, she got me the job I’ve got now!) and then head home. Back to the truck let’s see if I anger the cats again. (Well heck the truck has enough miles on it...catalytic converters don’t last forever...)
And then when I get home I gotta freshen up the little bitties’ brooder.
And then make dinner. Sigh. Running isn’t going to happen for a while. I need to start morning running. Ugh. Which will anger hubs too cause peach does not like getting left behind. TOO BAD. It’s either that or he learns to cook.
I had a run in with an ROUS in the coop today. (Rodent of unusual size). So it’s getting dark and I go in the big girl coop to collect eggs and “tuck them in”. Do my head count and notice they’re clustered all by the “steps” to their roost - all on the right side of their coop itself. Interesting. Look over and see a big dark blob. Huh. Maybe a big ol toad came in. So I nudge it with my foot. (Not the smartest creature am I?). It moves. Like a rodent. If it’s a mouse it’s the Biggest Freaking Mouse Ever!!! But it doesn’t look like a rat. It goes under the nesting boxes. Okay. At this point I close up the coop (figuring it’s a nuicense ROUS not a gonna kill your chickens ROUS) and trudge back to the house to summon The Husband. Grab flashlight and follow him back down, he grabs his pellet pewpew. So he hunkers down and looks with the flashlight. It was a little bitty baby bunny.
Now as much as he will shoot to kill the big bunnies...he carries it out of the coop. It eventually does break free hop to the ground and dashes to the run at which point I say let nature take its course.
So yes. My Rodent of Unusual Size was actually a baby Killer Rabbit.
