Granny's gone and done it again

Well, you can check Sheila and see if she calved or not. More then likely it was Enolas baby. Too bad you didnt look for umbilical.

IF there was one on the calf the flies had already taken care of it. LIKE I posted the calf was nothing but bones held together by the skin/hide

nope was out on Tuesday BUT I can NOT honestly remember if I saw Enola or not and the girls usually hide when they are calving/giving birth. Everyone is in the 30 acre plus pasture.

To the best of anyone's knowledge Sheila has NOT calved but then we don't know if she's preggers either.
The chances of both deaths being unrelated is pretty slim.

Thanks, i planned to keep that one so of course it died. I don't have many that color hatch.
Sorry Cap. Baby keets sure are delicate.

they were at least a couple hundred yards from each other.
That calf could have lived a couple of days before it died. You said it was skin and bones.

and maggots LOTS OF Maggots :sick:sick

The fur/coat on the calf had been "cleaned" by mother no sack on the calf. Fur was dry and "fuzzy"

Best guess is Enola calved and then for some reason lost the calf (or C Sheila did it in) and then Enola wandered off and died a day or two latter.
