Granny's gone and done it again

I hope he finds a good home, poor itchy thing. :( In CA, that dog would automatically be called a pit mix. I bet he's beautiful with healthy skin.
Is he neutered?

Not sure how you feel? You should be proud as can be!! :love

Sorry about your nana. My mom would have done the same thing, but she missed the Right to Die laws in Ca by over 10 yrs. It would have been a comfort to her to know she had the option, even if she didn't use it.

As for the hen, does she seem particularly heavy for her size? That would indicate internal laying, along with the penguin stance (nothing else I know of that causes that). Since she hasn't laid in a year, it is probably not egg binding. Ascites would show with a soft squishy "belly." There is no cure for internal laying that I have seen. As long as she is eating, she is doing fine. You can let her live out her life and decide on action later when she acts like she's in pain or stops eating and walking. If it seems like one of the other things, you can try treatment, but personally, I don't like putting them through too much.

h2o, how do you get that? It says they can't sell in CA (because we are too stupid to make decisions for ourselves :hmm). What is the active ingredient?
If you can use it on cats, my sis may want to try it. We have a pipeline for out of state help getting things to us.
I buy it on horse.com. They send it to me. The active ingredient is sulfur. If you call the company to ask about using it on a cat don5 tell h8m yo7 live in CA. And don’t tell him that horse.com is selling it to California. He hates calif.

Very interesting. I was thinking the color of them reminded me of African wild dogs, but they are saying wild dogs from Asia or Europe brought to the New World by native Americans are probably pert of the breeds' origin. Although with a range of 40 to 112 lbs, I think they are better described as a type of dog rather than a breed. Same goes for pits.
That one picture, with the very light blue eyes, such a striking dog. If I ever get another dog (on purpose), I would like a Whippet. Lazy couch potatoes with very little coat. Perfect for me. They have a grey and tan brindle colors that I just love. Reminds me of Catahoula colors.

Periodically DH wants to adopt a retired greyhound, but he never gets much farther than petting them.

haha! He is not alone, I think. We used to be able to get sulfa medications at the feed store. Solved many a problem with the horses and chickens. We need to fire the the CA Nanny!

Soo cute! He is just a puppy! So humble and gentle with you, I bet the rescue wont have any trouble placing that sweet boy.

I feel like he’s talking to me with his eyes. DH didn’t pitch any fits about keeping him a few days, either. Everything is just falling exactly into place. I don’t want to keep him because life is starting to settle down for us, but I do feel a connection with him.

I looked into that several years ago. Greyhounds have a relatively short lifespan. Whippet would hopefully live longer. Maybe. They'd sure be easier to fit in the car and in the house. So easy I could get 2! :th

he knows you are helping him! They always seem to know, every dog and most of the cats I have rescued or fostered seem to have recognized that I'm trying to keep them safe/help them.

They are neat dogs! Just be sure your backyard is secure, they can really run!
