Granny's gone and done it again

Bom Dia!

Cold and foggy morning here! Got the boys off to work & school, took Z to the park and am home now to start with some serious cleaning -- also have a goal of doing final organization on the last of things from the move that have been sitting in boxes out in the laundry room/old garage.....we'll see how much I actually get done, lol.

Mare, I had a box in my closet from a move in detroit that actually set there 25 yrs. before I looked in it. hahaha I figured if I wasnt missing it then I didnt need it. I finally looked when I was coming here and it had my childhood jewelry box in it among other old things like that. LOL

lol they do make a plastic one with screw on tops no "flipping" involved BUT rod melted the tops a bit with heat lamps and I haven't tried/gotten them again

They are very expensive . I have heard the O ring goes out often but I wont ever know. LOL Spring gets here I will be back to my oil pans.

I should probably take a pill before I go out to do them. Maybe I should either get the right things I need to take care of them or get rid of chickens altogether.

LOL strawberry is good with pb

Strawberry (homemade, to be exact) is the ONLY way to go with PB (or anything for that matter, lol). Was just noticing last night that it's time to make another batch of jam as we are nearing the bottom of the last jar of strawberry from the last batch........

I've got everything from under 1lb to over 5, and they do just fine together, cept for one incident.... That was my fault, integrated the Bantam pullets in with the flock too quickly, and an overly randy cockerel got ahold of her.

I think you'd love bantams, but I'm severely biased.

X 2 - I've kept mixed flocks of bantams and LF and never had any issues with it.
uh ho......someone laid a rubber egg!

On the floor of the coop too..
The new layers have been so good about going into a nest box...
I wish i could have seen who played this.
Im going to guess this is normal of a brand new layer.
I know they are feed all the right amounts of everything..so it just can not be food related.
Right?
No worries -- not uncommon and especially with the rubber eggs it seems sometimes those take the girls by surprise more so not surprising when they turn up in odd places.

I make rice crispie treats by heating the marshmallows in the micro. They blow up and get all schmoopy.

Never watched soaps either, except for this one. Only on once a week when they were showing it, so they had to stuff a lot of action and plot twists into each episode. Heaven forbid if you needed a potty break... you'd never keep up with what was going on.

LOL - I remember doing this as a kid all the time - we'd use little mugs and make our own personal crispy treats after school, toss in some chocolate chips and it was even better!
My only issue with their marathons is they tend to do them in conjunction with telethons/fundraisers so you get incessant "commercial breaks" where they are seeking donations........I just want to watch my episodes uninterrupted!
I am distracted. One of the PBS stations is having a Downton Abby marathon.

Love, love, love Downton Abbey!!! Have you seen the new serious that has Michelle Dockery (Mary) in it? SOOOO much a different character for her.....

hmmm... sounds like way too much responsibility. I like my hen-o-bators.

Absolutely - just "set it and forget it" and 18-21 days later you have fluffballs!

It's special when the kids love what you love! He's got those hens tamed down pretty good. Was impressed that he was holding a Welsummer. Mine is not a people chicken.

So true -- I love that DS and I share the chicken obsession - we've struggled to find something to share (was so easy with DD -- horses!) so when he showed an interest in the chickens when I got them it was a blessing. He is almost as excited as I am to be getting back into it now.

Funny you should say that about the Welsummer - we had three - one was so standoffish it was ridiculous, one could take or leave you and one, Daisy, was almost more of a lap pet than DS's special buff orp.
