I'll try to explain this conference again. It's for the directors of united Methodist summer camp and retreat facilities. There are 150 Methodist camps, I was told today. I've met LOTS of folks from California! My "jurisdiction" is Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. Missouri used to be with us, but two years ago the conference closed every Methodist camp in the state, so there are no Methodist camps in Missouri.

There are workshops on every aspect of camp: programming, finance, marketing, maintenance, food service, safety, racial minorities, training staff, and then some things that are oddly camp specific, like techniques for handling homesick parents and how to care for summer staff. There is a morning prayer time before breakfast, then breakfast, then a worship session with preaching, music, and study time specifically tailored to our profession. Then lunch, and then the workshops.

This is a really cool camp with three different little lakes, and they have fishing piles and tackle available. They also have free bikes, a hammock village, and a hospitality center with coffee and snacks inside the rec room (ping pong and pool tables).

It's a time of physical, mental, and spiritual renewal. If anyone needed this, it was DH. He's had a super tough year and is not handling it well. I'm grieved he's missing the opportunity, but there was really no other way.

Also today is his bday.

It sounds like a wonderful experience -- so sorry your DH couldn't go.

That's too bad. They should have done a driving test with him. Guess if it's not in the rules, they can't do it. No room for common sense in a bureaucracy.

Well, the knowledge test and driving skills test are two separate things unfortunately.
The funny thing being the number of people I encounter on the roads every day who clearly passed one or both of the tests and yet STILL have no grasp of how to drive........or the rules of the road

Hi Mare! Twist got the address. We are expecting 5+ days of rain starting tomorrow eve. I should get off this time sucking machine and get things ready! At least they don't often cancel school for rain!




Zelda, the Brahmas are so pretty. Our Peach is not an official therapy chicken, but she does make my son feel better! Did you know that Prostar (on this thread) has a dog named Peach? It is a good name. I wanted to call the chicken Princess Peach, but the boys wouldn't let me. It's a character in a game or something.

Yes, it is truly frightening, especially when I think of my new inexperienced drivers. #1 has not yet gone on the freeway by himself and he's been driving for a year.

My very late new years resolution was to make my Peachy therapy chicken - officially. She'd be so good at it.

Hi all, I or you all will probably be glad I missed you. I am in a very foul mood. I cant talk to anyone in the house right now . They are all wrong so it must be me.
I went and got meds and my shot. which was late. Might explain the sleeping 12 hrs. a night. Went to get CB . His mom wouldnt even come out of the kitchen to say hello. Told CB I had a big mouth and didnt want to talk to me. Tom says she is mad over the van. CB stole his brothers card and lied to him and me for a min. about it . Pup ate more of my wall . Its a mess. and while we were gone he chewed up CBs x box cords. Tom was complaining about his sugar being 300 as he was looking for cookies. I have ran everyone to their rooms.

And thank you Twist for thinking of me and sending me your wrapped sausage. I actually have 2 cans of red beans and rice I have been saving .

Big headache now.
