Wish that was the way everything worked Cap. I remember my mom talking about it though. Her dad would butcher and trade . Problem was the corn whiskey didnt fill their little bellys.

Poor Tango. Best thing you can do for her, in addition to treating everyone for mites, is to help her eat and drink. She will miss out if she can't see, and is at risk of being picked on by the others. Best to have her isolated.Tango chicken update: Visited the vet! Tango unforunatley had a bit of lice and mites. But...she has fowl pox. Funny-a chicken has chicken pox! Tango couldn't open one of her eyes this morning.Sad. The vet gave us some special cream to help with fowl pox. Tango has got it really bad - all around on her face, comb, wattles and...her eyes. Hopefully Tango will be ok...
She looks like my profile photo (but with a mild case of fowl pox).
That's a good idea. I found putting cheater chicks under a broody works best if the broody has set for the entire 21 days. That way she'll have the right hormones for accepting the chicks. Gives you a better chance.a few hrs/ up to 10 days if they are turned is how long you can hold eggs before you incubate them. Is she a first time broody? They are kinda iffy. Some will sit on rocks all yr. If she were mine I would probably let her sit a little longer and replace w/ chicks then keep a close eye on them for a couple days.
goof ball!My poor Bandit. He is staring at himself in an empty fish tank on the floor. Growling, walking around it looking for that other dog.
I noticed she was on the shy side, but she doesn't seem to be suffering or anything. Played chase with PITA just fine.View attachment 2143318
I wanted to talk about Frosty. Its clear by this picture she acts like she has been abused. I have had her for at least 5 yrs. She acts like this all the time. I call her she runs, I try to leash her she pees . She suffered from separation anxiety when I first got her. She howls like a hound . She acts like a hound. If its her idea she is fine. She sleeps w/ me every night curled up to me and loves the belly rubs but if I were to go to bed and pat the bed for her she would hide under it. She follows me every where. I absolutely hate that she is afraid. I got her at age 2 pregnant by her brother, ears infected and not house broke.
Desensitize her by having the carrier out at different times in different places. Leave the door open, close it up, and just ignore her.Rascal, our oldest cat, is like that. She's really hard to catch for vet trips. She wouldn't come for lunch ham for WEEKS after I gave her some then snagged her, stuffed her in the carrier and took her to the vet. Now we don't even THINK about getting the carrier out early, I think she can smell it from anywhere in the house.
Every time is a new challenge, last week she was asleep on a chair. I had DD2 go to the bedroom to be ready to get the carrier. I managed to get Rascal off the chair (she is NOT a "pick me up and hold me" cat) and into the carrier. Now every time DD2 and I are in the living room at the same time (rare as DD2 pretty much hangs in her room except when it is time to eat) and she is in the chair she'll bolt upstairs if I go near the chair.
Oh yes, you should have one.
Got two from splash Andalusian hens, two from cuckoo marans hens and two unknowns. Not sure who the fathers areshould be interesting if she hatches em!!
...oh lord should I get a standby incubator? Just in case?
Probably. Has she brought the last 3 under or is she ignoring them?oh lord should I get a standby incubator? Just in case?
But I want her to be happy. She gets on good w/ Bandit. But why cant she trust me ? I mean, its been 5 yrs.I noticed she was on the shy side, but she doesn't seem to be suffering or anything. Played chase with PITA just fine.
