ok, I do have one question. Bruiser is a 17 week old BSL cockerel.. and he's a 'bruiser' (quite large) already. Is he too big for those hens? They are all in the one year range according to the one banded. (L 8-4-2019)

I fed my chickens polk . I took the berrys off , snapped the cane about a ft from the ground and they loved them. Polk is good eating if you pick it young. You can fry the stem like okra just stay away from the roots and berrys. Muscadine makes really good jelly and I also have the wild honeysuckleI love wisteria.. got some started at the old place from seeds I stole from a neighbor. Brought some here with me, but for some reason couldn't get them started. Here we have trumpet vine, muscadine vine, virginia creeper, japanese honeysuckle, green briar, and kudzu.. the kudzu is driving me nuts.. keep having to go out with the sprayer and brush tox and smacking it back down.
I dug up quite a few of the green briar tubers and they are monstrous. https://www.foragingtexas.com/2008/08/greenbriar.html
Also have poke berrys growing in some dirt that was hauled in here at some point just east of the shed. Those tubers can get danged big too!
I'm trying to get rid of what's here, but now that you said that... I might think it over. What about the leaves?I fed my chickens polk . aww they didnt play. I think he is ok. Keep an eye on his nails and spurs and trim them if needed. I put a concrete block in my runs for them to sharpen their beaks on.

We lived in Bradenton FL. Near Sarasota. What part of Florida did you live in? Was it below the frost line? I know we had snow one year in Ocala when I was working at a huge Peruvian Paso farm.
And I did too ! And palmetto next door. There was a bridge going out of palmetto going the other way called the humpback bridge we jumped off of into the river below. I fished the Bradenton bridge. We lived in Bradenton FL. Near Sarasota.
It is a pit cross.Maybe it was a very large breed.
Walking won’t build up any muscle. I have been walking since March 15. 1.5 miles. Should up it 2. I never had muscle. Maybe since you did walking helped.Best exercise in the universe is walking, or so I've found. Gator and I walked 2 miles each morning and I got fit fast.
BTW, I have an uncle (dad's younger brother) who lives in Modesto. He's a retired school teacher. Both his boys live around your area.
