Granny's gone and done it again

I sure hope you don't eat Oatmeal.. did you know oatmeal has the highest concentration of glyphosates in it than any other food? Oh yeah, that's roundup.
I think most food farmer in a commercial way has some level of Round up in it. I refuse to use it. I pull weeds by hand.

Yes, I am perfectly aware that roundup is repurposed agent orange used in Viet Nam to defoliate jungles. But, would you like your whole farm over run with kudzu? Ya can't drink that much kudzu tea.. And I ain't got no goats to eat it.
Well the problem is, stuff gets into the water and goes to lakes and oceans. I have used it in the past, but I won't buy the stuff or use it.
I know, invasive species are very difficult to eradicate. They have goat rental services now! Even some highway departments do that. I have driven from Nova Scotia to Florida and seen how bad it is. Like snakes in the Everglades from South America, brought in as pets and dumped when the owners got sick of them. Now people are paid to capture snakes, and even get a bonus for really big ones. Florida's native animals are being decimated by these snakes.
I am not picking on you Cindy, millions of people use it. I just choose not to.

Here is what I've been doing today. DH and I decided this morning that the best way to deal with Mr or Ms Vermin was to eliminate the habitat. Ready or not we picked the pumpkins and the butternut squash..OMG! I had no idea how many pumpkins were hiding in that bed.

And no, I have no idea what I am going to do with all of them. Most are basketball size or slightly larger but a lot are smaller. I'm going to keep small ones to roast like regular squash and some are destined to be cut in half, cleaned out and cooked in the microwave so they can be skinned and mashed for pies and custards. I'll share some with the neighbors and naturally with the chickens.

After that I worked two cattle dogs.

Is it time to go to bed yet?

I got all the bedding out of the half of the chicken coop that is empty. Was going to clean with pinesol in water , then remembered chickens don't do well with odors that could cause respiratory issues. So I went and got the Oxine and am off to scrub the walls. Hope to repaint those walls when it dries.

Sell them for a few bucks each and buy more animal feed! Or maybe a soup kitchen would use it. Would make a great display on a set of steps if you carved all of them!:lau

I use it. I'm trying to use less of it though with the thought of not using it at all by next spring, Mainly I use it on the driveway to keep the weeds under control but it's just not safe. DH asked me if I would like an electric weed eater as the gas powered ones are too hard on my neck and shoulders. I told him yep, next spring on the the 'GET' list before the weeds get the better of me.

I have to do something that keeps me from having to get down and manually weed. It's too hard on my neck and shoulders not to mention knees and lower back.

Me and weed killers is kind of a love hate relationship. I hate them but love that I don't have to manually weed and be in pain.

DH just suggested that but these are 'eating' pumpkins not 'carving' pumpkins. The flesh is about two to three inches thick with small center cores filled with seeds.
