Thanks, Twist! Have been looking for a good molasses cookie recipe! When I make a big batch of cookie dough, I usually shape it all into balls, place on cookie sheets crowded together and freeze. When frozen, dump into Ziploc freezer bags and store in freezer. To bake, space out on cookie sheets and thaw at room temp for about an hour, then bake about as usual. May need an extra minute or so.Oh here we go "Grandma Lock's (originally LocH b/4 Ellis Island)
3/4 cup of Crisco (nothing else seems to work)
1 cup sugar,
Cream together
Add 1/4 cup light molasses (I use only Brier Rabbit)
1 egg -beaten
2 cups AP flour
1/4 Teaspoon salt
2 Teaspoons Baking Soda
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon each of ground ginger and ground cloves
MIX with the "wet' stuff ,mixture will be stiff
chill in fridge until good and firm then roll into balls (I use a cookie scoop) and then roll white sugar until entire ball is coated.
place on UNgreased cookie sheet. DO NOT FLATTEN
bake at 350* for 8 to 10 minutes.
yield about 4 dozen depend on the size of your balls.
Should you forget the soda bake the little hockey pucks and use as dog treats.
The 6 quart kitchen aid mixer can handle a triple batch
