The dogs and one of the cats have been coming in with Beggar's lice already, or what my SIL calls that. Never heard of em in NM. Fortunately, they slip right out of their coats with a fine-toothed comb, though. I don't know what the plant or the flower look like, though, no one's ever showed me.Thanks for the warning. I haven't planted alyssum for ages.
We have what they call Beggar's Lice here. They are a weed seed and when you walk through the timber and brush by them they stick to just about everything. We've come in with these BB sized clingy things attached to socks, shoes, pants, shoe laces. We spend more time than I'd like to admit picking them off of us and the dogs. The dogs get on the bed and pull them off of their feet so we can then pull them off the blankets.
I hate Beggar's Lice season....which is coming up next month.
Gaah, quitting smoking is the hardest!Don't worry, Granny rarely takes my advice and I am a nurse. She still won't quit smoking. Had to work on my Aunt a long time to get her to do that.
Those are pretty. I thought alyssum was more ground-hugging and cushiony.@Granny Hatchet I've been trying to get this posted for I don't know how long. But every time I walk by them I think about you.
In spite of the outrageously wet spring and summer that we have had that drowned out just about everything, I had about four Alyssum plants survive and thrive.
Finally got myself a picture of them peeping out from the marigolds.
Thank you so much. I can't begin to describe how happy these tiny white flowers have made me this summer.View attachment 2792102
Its always easier not to get into it from the start...a tip for all addictions and one I will take to heartGaah, quitting smoking is the hardest!
I dont even know myselfWe are expecting heat indices* of around 105 tomorrow, and 108 to 110 Thursday.
*Is that spelled right? I tried a couple of different spellings and spell check didn't like any of them. It tried to force "indexes" which drew a gag reflex from me! We don't get along very well and on this phone I can't find the option to turn the bloomin' thing off.
You'd better, young lady, or I will take a switch to you!Its always easier not to get into it from the start...a tip for all addictions and one I will take to heart
