In order of darkness, Marans come first, then Penedesencas, then Welsummers, then Barnevelders followed by Langshans

They're fairly easy to come by, and they lay nice dark chocolate eggs (usually... some hatchery ones will lay lighter.) plus they are supposed to be great birds. And Wyandottes don't lay dark eggs, so between the two of them you'll have darker eggs with marans.
