Granny's gone and done it again

So bantam eggs were infertile! Cracked em open when I found a weird bubble floating around the middle. Guess what? It had a doughnut yoke!

the other 2 just never developed, so no bantams from those. And 1 EE egg has slight veining that I can see.

The new incubator is blowing through water! I've had to fill it up 2x since I set it up on Tuesday night. Completely dry both times! Idk what I'm going to do when lockdown happens for that one.
Sounds like either a leak or a "way off" thermometer. Is it calibrated?

Keep your eyes open for a second-hand incubator, set it up & make sure it's working right, set half a dozen of your own eggs, and get your feet wet. All the books in the world won't beat experience. Get stuck?...ask for help, and think like a broody hen.

Pluck your breast feathers, poop once a day, and sit on anything vaguely baby-shaped?
Well, that's certainly one approach

There are 2 in each incubator. Each pair has been calibrated and has the same temp.

A air leak? Or water? Both are sealed except vent holes.

Well, that's certainly one approach  :p

I mean might as well toss them if they ain't doing anything, right? No sense in keeping em.

And as far as broody goes don't forget to bite when someone gets to close

Quote: I understood you to say your water troughs were running completely out of water every day. That water has to be going somewhere; if it's not leaking out somewhere, the only other thing that makes sense to me is evaporation caused by high heat, but 2 calibrated thermometers say otherwise, so I haven't a clue.

I can do a pretty fair impression of a broody, 'specially when I'm running on caffeine

I get ya. I haven't got a clue either. The homemade bator does great with the water and it's sitting right beside the other one! I've added water once a week and not very much.

Granny now I'm even more worried! My chick does not fill the egg. He's bigger than he was at the beginning of the week but not huge. Should I wait a couple more days to lockdown?
what day are you ? Lock down on day 18.
I cant give advise, Mine are doing terrible. Sallys thread is great for this. Pics help a lot too.
