I bumped myself off here trying to close a different thread.
Likes mean something to me. It makes me proud to know people like me or what I am saying. Its the same as an ovation. Some people dont care about them but they make me feel good. And he is up to 190 already.
You expressed your gratitude for his help on a public forum, and in this way, the likes are important to help show just how much you appreciated him, as now over 190 people know about his good deed. I hope he feels good about it!

I have a cockerel in with them aren't they not supposed to have layer? I usually throw it on the ground but it's been so wet and icky in the run. And those darn chickens love mud! I swear they could be ducks!

My "horse chickens" have a rooster...all are eating the same layer pellets...never had a problem with "him" only eating that

Don't sell yourself short.
Keep your eyes open for a second-hand incubator, set it up & make sure it's working right, set half a dozen of your own eggs, and get your feet wet. All the books in the world won't beat experience. Get stuck?...ask for help, and think like a broody hen.

X lots.... Except set more than six.

no deal...when I do get one it will be a brisnea...the last thing I want is to be worrying about a bator.

Top row: my legbar (paired with EE)
Middle row: isabels and one legbar/isabel (paired with???)
Bottom row: cochin OE (paired with marans OE) and a Mae West (cochin) egg.

Think I'm going to set these, in addition to the other dozen from Texas.

Danna, if you like that blue better then I'll save you some (if she lays again). It's prettier than what I've got. :/

So today is day 9 on the bantam and 2 EE eggs that I got from work. If I see nothing at this point is it safe to say nothing is going to happen? Cream colored bantam eggs and green EE eggs? The green is hard to see through but I think I seen something in one of them.

Girl you are asking the wrong person.
I'm not ready to attempt incubating yet.

I haven't learned enough from everyones mistakes YET! :lau

Pluck your breast feathers, poop once a day, and sit on anything vaguely baby-shaped?

I don't have a rooster here..at my house..with my "special" girls...I can't.

The "horse chickens" aren't really mine...but the roosters there are...there was two...up until this morning.
So those eggs would be fertile...ive seen those boys in action...my only problem is that the eggs would come from production red chickens and I prefer not to have those in my backyard.
That being said I am going to let me "chicken lady" friend try to hatch some...just to see what they turn out to look like.
In the near future I may be willing to add one or two of those "production /cuckcoo marans" chicks to my yard.
