Bielefelder's will eat more because they are a large breed. Mine are still laying a pullet size (large) egg at a year. The hathing eggs I purchased of these birds a year ago were jumbo & beyond size. Couldn't even get the jumbo egg carton closed on a dozen. Mine lay a nice dark egg, not Maran dark, but dark & sometimes with spots.Yep that's what it is. That's ok by me. I just want a docile, good layer with lots of colorful eggs. I am finding my birds eating a lot this spring.

Yep, one of the reasons I got them.
