ditto    besides they need the heritage breeds to create the  "flavor of the day birds" 

she said the kraut birds dont lay as much as the CCL. 

Nope they dont, but not by much. I like their demeanor better though.

Think I might be in a mood this am. so far, dog is on my nerves, DH is on my nerves, I only had one cup of coffee. BTW, squirt bottle works on both of them.

I've been feeding them cracked corn instead of layer pellets. They don't eat as much corn so I think that's why they may be eating eggs & I haven t been home during the day to pick up eggs multiple times.

They usually need more protein than scratch alone. Lack of protein is often responsible for egg eaters.

The Biele's are a dual purpose breed. The hens & roosters both are large. The breeder I got my hens from has a rooster that weighs almost 15 pounds.

Haven't eaten any, I'm not fond of the idea of eating my own birds. So can't yep you with that one. I've gotta run so you all have a great day, ttfn
