Wow. 2 hours + of silence............ Ma and I made it back inside once again. All coops closed. Lost 3 off the smaller but well feathered out Bresse chicks today. One looked like it had been attacked inside the coop. The other two looked like they just laid down and died. Don't know. They were all loose to free range during the day today.

Ive been reading about Coos Bay Or. where Star is moving to. It sounds like a really nice place to live. They are lucky to have found a place to live. Hardly anyone wants to sell there. Weed laws are pretty relaxed too. Just walk into a store and buy what you want. lol

Not at the moment. This wasn't a coon or possum in the middle of the day. One was not stiff yet but two were. Many smaller chicks could have been attacked as well. Think I will sit and watch them for awhile tomorrow. I'll look at them first thing in the morning. This bunch is primary pullets that are in a very large coop house as a grow out pen. It's by no means crowded.

One of my better memories from the summer when I was 17 was walking out on the docks at Coos Bay with an uncle and my younger brother and seeing an early teen girl struggling to carry her king salmon from the boat to her vehicle. Must have been at least a 40 lb fish.

My uncle also bought a slab of smoked salmon to take home. Of course he let us taste it and we barely save enough for our aunt to have some when we got home.
